We live in a highly polarized society. In such an environment, some
agenda driven groups often exploit horrific events creating public panic

to further their cause.

You might hear about the Child Safety First report that was issued by theCenter for Judicial Excellence (CJE).

An international group of researchers discovered that the non peer-reviewed CJE report, Child Safety
First, contains more than 50 citations that are misquoted, misrepresented or are patently false. 

Further, the CJE report is filled with flawed research methodology primarily based upon anecdotal accounts. Our 80-page analysis of Child Safety First reveals:

 The CJE has ignored and/or misrepresented the scientific status and research regarding parental alienation (an insidious form of child abuse, intimate personal violence, and coercive control).
 The CJE policy recommendations exceed the cope of their data.
 The CJE has made recommendations that are not supported by science and literature.
 The CJE report attempts to influence American jurisprudence:
o The judiciary (mandating judges’ training, limiting judicial discretion)
o The social sciences (qualifications for expert witnesses, implementation of treatment programs)
o Rights of families (children’s right to have a relationship with two healthy parents,
parents’ rights to rear their children)

 We believe that the CJE is attempting to silence any opinions that disagree with their agenda.
The CJE is now promoting legislation in Congress and in states based upon Child Safety First
Recommendations from Child Safety First should be viewed with extreme skepticism.

This blatant misinformation can and will escalate unless the CJE and other domestic violence advocates who
promote this deception acknowledge that their agenda fails to include all forms of abuse.

More than 90 organizations say Center for Judicial Excellence report on child safety and parental
alienation is alarming and outrageous
We live in a highly polarized society in which agenda driven groups further their cause by exploiting
events and creating public panic. The Center for Judicial Excellence (“CJE”) is hosting a Congressional Briefing on October 25th, 2023, to promote its Child Safety First report. This report claims that flaws in family courts have resulted in many preventable child homicides and it outlines recommendations for fixing these flaws.

While Child Safety First proclaims to be a research-based report, an international group of researchers discovered that the non-peer-reviewed report contains more than 50 citations that are misquoted, misrepresented or are patently false. For example, the CJE replaces the words “research suggests” in one citation with “a strong correlation.” Also, the CJE quotes a citation to say that certain factors “show a continued, escalating pattern when they are ignored,” yet the citation does not talk about “escalating patterns.”

One especially preposterous statistic that the CJE quotes is that at least, “58,000 American children each year are court-ordered into visitation or custody with a dangerous parent,” yet only 50,000 children per year (including cases with no allegations of violence) are subject to court orders!

Child Safety First is also filled with flawed research methodology, primarily based upon anecdotal
accounts and the media. The CJE provides little corroborating sources such as police records or court transcripts. The policy recommendations that are based on these accounts greatly exceed the scope of this data.

An exposé of the gross errors in Child Safety First has just been released and it is endorsed by more than 90 international organizations. This exposé reveals that the CJE has misrepresented the scientific status of parental alienation (which is an insidious form of child abuse, intimate personal violence, and coercive control). For example, the CJE ignores hundreds of peer-reviewed scientific studies about parental alienation and instead claims that parental alienation has been discredited.

Perhaps the thing that has most outraged so many organizations is that the CJE is promoting Child Safety First to influence American jurisprudence including:
 The judiciary (mandating judges’ training, limiting judicial discretion)
 The social sciences (qualifications for witnesses, implementation of treatments)

 Rights of families (children’s right to have a relationship with two healthy parents, parents’
rights to rear their children)
More than 90 endorsing organizations believe that the CJE is attempting to silence any opinions that disagree with their agenda, including the parental alienation community. They also feel that such gross citation manipulation and flaws comprise the credibility of the CJE report and its recommendations.

This alarming and outrageous misinformation can and will escalate unless the CJE and other domestic violence advocates who promote this deception acknowledge that their agenda fails to include all forms of abuse.
